The Integrated Business Curriculum (IBC) provides undergraduate students with a hands-on opportunity to experience the challenges and responsibilities of running a business. During Kayla Lopez's participation in the program, she worked on a project focused on selling reusable straws to support relief efforts for the 2023 Maui fires. As the marketing lead, Kayla developed and executed promotional campaigns, created event-driven content, and strategically positioned the product to appeal to college students and environmentally conscious consumers. The team's objective was to effectively engage these target audiences and generate awareness and support for their cause. The final business plan and presentation, available below, highlight the team's progress and outcomes throughout the semester. This experience was particularly meaningful for Kayla, as she aspires to one day open her own business. Participating in the IBC served as an invaluable stepping stone toward that goal, providing her with real-world insights into entrepreneurship. She also learned the critical importance of communication, collaboration, and strategic planning, all of which will be vital to her future success.
